We’re Throwing a Birthday Party at Henry’s Books!
Saturday, June 20, 9 am - 5 pm
Henry’s Books is turning two and we want to celebrate with the whole community! Please join us throughout the day on Saturday, June 20 for giveaways, buy one get one free used books, our Henry’s Books merch launch (!), and a few other surprises.
Henry’s Books opened its beautiful wooden doors for the first time on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Looking back on that day, “people came one-by-one until the store was packed full and the line stretched onto the road outside, everyone was grabbing books as fast as they could.” (Thanks for the help remembering the excitement, Ellen Sheehy in Story Keepers, BHSU Ponder magazine, October 2025)
Since that time we’ve hosted book clubs, author talks and book signings, craft nights and game nights, and expanded our operations to include a nonprofit, a used book selection, and a publication featuring your original literary works. And, through it all, you–the community–have been our inspiration, our reason to keep fighting the good indie fight.
And, if you haven’t been in yet, what are you waiting for? Small but magical, we’re located in a beautiful historic building in downtown Spearfish (111 E. Hudson, to be exact) with creaky wood floors and tall dark shelves featuring a carefully curated, ever-changing selection of titles. We’re proud to be a comfortable third space in our community, a place you can consistently rely on coming in and being welcome; a place that you actively take part in. A place of belonging.
We look forward to celebrating with you on Saturday, June 20!
