Author Open House Featuring Three Topnotch Wordsmiths!

Join us at Henry’s Books on Wednesday, June 24 at 5 pm for a very special author open house to celebrate the works of Kathy Bjornestad, Dan McKittrick, and MJ Witt. Each author will have a variety of their titles for folks to choose from and they look forward to chatting with local readers about speculative fiction, thrillers, fantasy, historical fiction, and local history. This event is free!
Kathy Bjornestad is a small-town girl with a big imagination as well as an award-winning author of both children’s and adult books. Among her titles for young readers are The In-Between Library, The Amazing Sunny York, and Ghouls of Greenbottom Ward. Her children's books imagine the world as it should be, a place where characters eventually find the homes where their hearts belong. Her adult books (under the pen name Kate Glass) are edgier, fast-paced and voice-rich. Encapsulating both romance and speculative fiction, her Genesis Planet trilogy has captured readers with its gritty, realistic stakes and deeply personal character journey.
Dan McKittrick is the author of over a dozen titles including Still Looking for Rock Rapids, Selective Service: A Novel, Boom Town Blues, and Burning Down the Hut. A former high school English teacher based in Sioux Falls, he has published plays, novels, and one non-fiction book. His characters range from a retiree upending his life during Covid (Socially Distanced) to a young adult dodging the draft in 1974 (Selective Service). His play, Philosophers and Prophets, revolves around Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad as they spend a night together in jail.
MJ Witt was born and raised in the rugged Black Hills, where a deep respect for the land, self-reliance, and hard work shaped his outlook from an early age. Now based in the Pugent Sound of Washington state, Witt is the author of the six-book Vashon Island Falls series, a post-apocalyptic saga set in the Pacific Northwest, and MacKay’s Justice, a high-stakes action-triller series centered on grit, loyalty, and the thin line between law and justice.
This multi-author meet and greet will be held in the Community Room at Henry’s Books.
